Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of returning with Beth and introducing another friend to the Wilde Roast Cafe in Nordeast Minneapolis. Beth and I discovered the Wilde Roast a few years back and have been faithful patrons since.

If you're ever over in the neighborhood, you MUST, and I mean MUST have the Bette Noir (flourless chocolate cake). It has been argued that Cafe Latte, over in St. Paul, has the best. But Cafe Latte (I don't believe) ever had their's featured in Bon Apetite magazine.

If you go to the Wilde Roast ( as in Oscar Wilde) main page, you can find many interesting blurbs about their history, their vision, their community involvement, and their FOOD. The breakfasts, lunches, and dinners are all extremely well designed with subtle flavors that take traditional fare, such as macaroni and cheese, and turn it into a gourmet delight.

The crab cakes are also very unique and the field greens salad with the house dressing drizzled on is something you should always opt for over the chips (not that there's anything wrong with the chips.) The menu changes and is updated a few times a year but the traditional favorites seem to always stand their ground. And for that, Beth and I (and I think I can speak for us both) are very grateful.
