Melanie and I found the attendant at the Red Wing Depot Art Gallery in Red Wing, Minnesota a bit of a mystery.  We tried guessing which country she was from based on her accent and her clothing.  Gypsy, we thought.  So, Romania maybe?  But she wouldn't tell us.  She was, however, very willing to tell us about the artists whose work she helps promote.

I happen to like the Red Wing Depot whether it houses an art gallery, or not. It's old and sturdy and rests alongside the Mississippi river.

Melanie and I have occasionally discussed the romantic aspect of transportation in love songs, movies and books.  Maybe it's about the bittersweet feeling of a loved one leaving or returning. . . I don't know.  At any rate, here you have a railroad track running along a river and it's lovely.  But I digress.

What I wanted to mention was this wonderful untitled organic art installation by Christopher M. Groth from St. Olaf College located in Northfield, Minnesota.  It had an otherworldly feel to it and we tried to imagine the artist's inspiration.  Whatever it was, it worked!
