Thank goodness for a state that appreciates our natural resources and utilizes them in a way that can be shared with all of us. I didn't leave town for Memorial Day weekend and I have to admit, it got to be kind of long.
Lucky for me, I live near a nature center that is well maintained and free to enjoy. With gas prices so high, I have to think twice about the cost of recreation.
It looks like I wasn't the only one enjoying Monday's fine weather. Although I chose to hike along the paths at a brisk pace, others took a more leisurely approach. It was a lovely way to kill time.
I won't let Memorial Day sneak up on me next year. I intend to over-schedule and make the two-and-a-half hour trip to my parent's farm like I should have this year. What was I thinking?
